Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Appoints three Nigerians and one South Africa National As Board Bitcoin trust fund

The Former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey has appointed three Nigerians and one South Africa to the board of it's Bitcoin trust fund (BTrust). Dorsey made this announcement this in a statement on his Twitter handle on 16 December, 2021.

Dorsey appointment of one South African and three Nigerians that will act as the board of the Bitcoin Trust (BTrust) fund which will be used for development in Africa and India.

The three Nigerians appointed into the Bitcoin trust fund are Ojoma Ochai, Abubakar Nur Khalil, Obi Nwosu, and Carla Kirk-Cohen from South African.

Dorsey who is also a crypto advocate, tweeted as he announced the leaders of the Bitcoin trust fund, I’m so grateful for you all and so inspired. They will now work towards defining the operating principles as they think about how to best distribute the 500 bitcoin towards development efforts. Dorsey who just resigned as Twitter CEO, said that the four selected developers who have formerly worked to promote bitcoin development efforts across Africa from 7,000 participating applicants.

The appointment of the three Nigerians is coming after the Central Band of Nigeria laid ban on cryptocurrencies transactions in Nigeria.

The Formation of Bitcoin trust fund (BTrust)

Jack Dorsey formed the Bitcoin trust fund in partnership with Jay Z. US rapper and record label Owner. Both Jack Dorsey and Jay Z. had formerly announced their intention to give 500 BTC to set up the bitcoin trust fund development with him focusing on Africa and India based team. For now, it is not clear on how the trust will work in Nigeria, given that the CBN has placed a ban on all cryptocurrency transactions in the country.
